Oof, this chapter just gave Jo a black mark for me.
When the slaver turned his head after gun threw down his rifle, I thought for sure that the next panel would be of a bullet hole appearing in the slavers head from Jo shooting him with his hand gun.
Instead we got the nonsense that happened.

So not only did he disarm himself in a hostage situation but then he only had no casualties cause a slave saved his ass. Also why did he let that slaver live? Kill the fecker, you know magic exists and magic items. As a military guy he should have had 0 hesitation.

Sadly he is literally a fresh grad of military academy so he doesn't know what to do in the given situation but fucking hell he didn't even think that his trigger pull his faster than that asshole's swing.
Also his fault that he doesn't have his pistol on standby since summoning a weapon and pulling from an arm's reach has considerably different effect on a situation so i can only hope he reflect on that but i doubt he will because he's a textbook brickhead and a moron in general since he compared a general to a CEO smh

he had two options, 1. shoot the bastard, or 2. throw his gun on the ground and watch her die, unfortunately he did the latter, lucky for her she had magic to protect herself from the threat he failed to deal with even though the target was clear and open with no obstructions.
all this tells me about the MC is that he is a pathetic loser unwilling to take lives even if it means he has to watch another be taken.
fresh meat to the SDF or not, what exactly did he think he was training to do? hold hostile forces hands and sing campfire songs?
