Mistranslation in chapter 19. "Hug" doesn't convey why there'd be confusion; original word is probably 抱き, so a more accurate translation would be "hold" which would explain no.2's confusion. That "today" can also be changed to "tonight" for clarity: "Can I hug you today" vs "Can I hold you tonight".
