People are convinced the mom is going to be a big source of drama. And I can definitely see it... but I don't think it's remotely a matter of intention.
Remember, she mentioned the acting job in mere passing and had every single expectation that FMC would turn it down. She was shocked when FMC decided to audition for the role, and IIRC even checked to make sure she really wanted to before getting all excited.
I think this is a matter of cultural differences, and not just country but also age; the mom thinks she's helping by keeping her daughter laser-focused on her career and responsibilities. She is, above all else, prioritizing her daughter's success, and probably thinks any struggle or self-sacrifice just comes as part n' parcel. She doesn't seem to be truly aware that her daughter is starting to want more, starting to want a life outside of her actress alter ego. Even last chapter (actually chapter 14) her shutting down of the FMC's desire to commute between Kyoto and Okinawa was on the completely valid grounds that the commute alone would take all day even by flight, at which point she'd have to fly right back anyhow.
It's also pretty heavily implied that FMC hasn't been talking to her mother much if at all about the details of her school and personal life, presumably because FMC- like most of the comments- thinks her mother really only cares about the actress alter ego rather than her actual flesh n' blood daughter. I think that once this all inevitably blows up and leads to a (clearly overdue) confrontation, everyone will be pleasantly surprised after the dust has settled.
