I hate the idea that if you became attracted to someone based on their looks first, that makes you shallow. While yes, that can be the case for many, most kids get attached to visually appealing subjects and he has spent more time with her since that first meeting. He may not be able to read her mood/mind, but he DOES makes a concerted effort to make sure she's enjoying herself around him.

TLDR: Not all romance should start with "love at first sight" but there's nothing wrong with it either, the human mind can be fickle and weird sometimes.

Personally, I never understood why it has such a negative connotation cuz it’s all well and good that you want to get to know someone and connect with them on a deeper level but things got to start somewhere and whether or not someone would be willing to seek that deeper understanding is from your first interaction/impression and one’s appearance plays a huge part in that as it’s the first thing anyone finds out bout anyone. Like, just cuz a crackhead might secretly be some sagely wiseman doesn’t mean shit when one look at the guy is gonna turn anyone away from further interaction.

Probably cause kyoto is more known for fox spirits/ inari shrines or something, so i think her character design is supposed to invoke fox imagery more than snakes

If so then they know each other pretty well before this and are just keeping up appearances. It seems he knew about the ring (I can't remember if anyone else knew about it) and how she wasn't wearing it.

Yeah saw the raws, this bitch's arc goes on for a while, he even gets a multichap flashback that's still ongoing. I'll wait a few chaps for this arc to end and then marathon it all in one go.

Honestly it might be best for their engagement to be broken so they can just have a normal relationship as it is now both sides are basically too awkward to do anything which causes the constant misunderstandings. That or the girl just needs to stop being so damn shy about her feelings because it is causing pain for the ML as we see time and time again as the more she hides from her own emotions the further it’s going to push the ML. Whether that is to liking someone else or just not wanting to be engaged however really depends on the ML.

Falling in love is one thing but staying in love is another. People fall in love for many reasons but people only stay in love for one reason, and that's because they love the other person as a whole.
