This is based on my imagination, but I think the ancient magic is spirit magic (elf uses) and I think spirit magic and mana (magic used in manga) are different. As stated in the Chapter 13, all the mana (magic) in the atmosphere has been annihilated due to the spell MC casted. And Elise (Elf) used defensive spirit magic to defend herself from the golem which is sent flying by the MC.
