That's a bit too oversimplified and eliminates a lot of the actually complexity that comes from having two sages as daughters, the general geopolitical situation, potential alternative protections that he could foster for himself and possess complete independence. This just wants to try to shoehorn that the absolute only way for him to have a completely beneficial situation is to be forced into an academic system, which is effectively just a one sided statement with no real exploration of the details and the actual potential negative outcome that comes from it.

If anything, due to how much of a shock this had over the announcement of his contract to a spirit. This would actually indicate that he has a lot more sudden power and authority that he is being led to believe.
Now, I'm sure the author is going to set up a lot of convoluted stuff to justify that this was absolutely the only way for the MC to absolutely get the maximum benefit of things and definitely will not absolutely have a bunch of little holes that comes up here and there.

But it's okay, you can trust her because she's an authority abusing lolibaba and the stereotype is stronger than issues with the world building.

Given that the crest appear on one of his finger instead of the whole back of his palm, it gives the possibility of him obtaining another crest later on.

That would be bad if it were to ever happen.

PS: Also, wth happened with the first sage?

Since it begins with "Le" that seems to indicate a french inspiration, the name of the school is probably "Verger" (Orchard), because "Verge" means "d*ick".
