I haven't read further yet, but I'd speculate that it has less to do with traditions/manliness and more to do with Anna's career and corresponding concerns, maybe even restrictions related to dating.

I'll be honest, when Kyo was wondering if he should even tell his own family right away, I was thinking Anna's the type to have come home the very day she asked Kyo out and got an affirmative and just gushed to her mom.

Also, so many of us would totally date Kana-onee. We think she's cool, and we wonder how nobody else at her university noticed, too.

I love how the whole love confession/lyrics thing resolved, there. Seems like Kana really did get a spark of inspiration. Maybe this will also lead to her own love story with honest, straightforward expression of self on stage. She really deserves it.

Concert date! Concert date! I had one of those once. I forget if I was with my ex as a couple or if it was while we were just friends. It must have been after we started dating each other, though. Went to one of the last concerts for the band Rush, before they retired (and later the loss of the great Neil Peart five years ago)- pretty sure it was Clockwork Angels. Anyway, kinda nice going to an event with someone you're in love with.
