Playing devil's advocate here, I'm assuming his crush in Miya is some dumb childhood idea of love that he's never let go. She was the cute (and maybe sweet when she was younger) little sister of a friend and he romanticised their interactions and believes he's in love with her. With only a slightly better foundation than 'random kid stole and ate my drugs and I never saw him again'. She grew up maybe being uncomfortable with him, realised she's a lesbian and now really doesn't like his affection but he refuses to move on. Would explain her dislike of him and add the love triangle she's then very harsh on him.
Really, all three need sat down, he's told to give up on the lesbian, she's told to control her anger and the prez is told love does not come from seeing a kid for 10 seconds who eat your drugs half your life ago when you were too young to know what love means. I honestly like the dynamic between the three but the reasons for the love in the triangle are pretty flimsy. I still ship the MC with... what's-her-name, Miya's older sister. They always have such a great dynamic when they're together.
