I want to say this is totally unrealistic, but frankly it isn't. Small groups of isolated people (for a long time, like here) who are themselves to some extent isolated do end up cracking like this. And those things that was mentioned, decision fatigue and path of least resistance (making her experience an easier alternative of giving up control) are real too.

Obviously not everyone cracks as fast or in the same way, or even at all. But it's plausible. They have no contact with any other humans for a good long while now, their surroundings have not changed, and their future is uncertain.
