This wasn't an axe. The whole series was just a promo/teaser for the full LN/WN. The idea is to give you a taste of the story and characters in an easier-to-read manga format then end after like 1 or maybe 2 story arcs to spur you to go find and read the novels. It's a pretty standard practice and I'd wager that more LN/WN adaptations work like this as opposed to just adapting the whole thing or catching up to the novel and branching off to tell their own story.

As someone else in the thread said, if you see the adaptation tag and you're not already facing a backlog of like 30+ chapters then you have to keep it in your mind that the sudden end "go read the novel for the rest!" ending is always a possibility.
Yeah i dont typically pay attention to tags. Tho ive run into a couple promotional series before and i have to say if they want to guarantee people dont check out their products, this is definitely the best practice. The last thing i want to do after getting a good story yanked out from under me like this is go and check out the writers other works or products, all they do is actively make me want to avoid them in the future. What a waste of time

Thank you for the translation. This was adorable while it lasted.

Kind of a rubbish way to end but oh well.

Reading the spoilers about where this was going left me rather unimpressed; as it seems it's just another OG-FL is a manipulative psycho story.

OG-FL looking at all of the advancements and being like "oh shit, one of them's a reincarnator too" would've, like, made sense? But she's simultaneously obsessed with capturing the prince while not paying any attention to what he's doing?

Maybe it's just as well it ends here.

This was a good read. Thank you for the translation.
I would love to have the continuation, but it seems to be like No Game No Life, an ad.
It's fine, I'm satisfied with what I read.

MAL list that there is 3 volumes for a total of 17 chapters, not 16, tho.
If you look at the table of contents for volumes 2 and 3, both have omakes which have been left untranslated. Whomever put the chapter count for MAL must have counted chapter 16.5 as chapter 17.

It was short, sweet, and ended on a hopeful teaser. Wish the story went until the end of at least the main story.
Cheers for translating it until the end.

Gotta agree with earlier comments, one regarding it being a bummer that OG-FL didn't seem to realize that there could be another reincarnator, another about it being weird that our main couple interfering with others' relationships could've worked well (aside from the scientist), considering how strong the two's compulsion to act like their in-game versions of selves was before exchanging the vows.

For the former, I think she was way too focused on her end goal.
Or she could've brushed the differences off as the current world being organic or filling in details that could've never been mentioned in the game. Shakespeare's two plays are out there in the wild, after all, and it doesn't seem to be OG-FL's endeavor.
I also believe Selzhus' name should've been Celsius (who in this fictional setting invented alcohol thermometer with a temperature scale that focuses on water's freezing and boiling points, y'know, IRL Celsius scale), and the latter was a character the prince actually met, to my understanding (chapter 15, pages 4-8).

For the latter point... IDK, they can spread the immunity from compulsion by interfering? The prince route is the main/canon story, so others wouldn't be hit as strongly, if at all?

FYI, the cat was there in the game's prologue mentioned by our FL back in chapter 1, which showed how the prince met the OG-FL.

I agree with others regarding making an additional 'ad for a novel version/different medium' tag (since sometimes there could be adaptations that involve a portion of plot from a game, which doesn't go to its end, or works as a prologue, for example).
I don't know if that's still a thing, but there was a time with a sort of 'one-shot adaptation' kind of long strips, that were mostly ads for Korean novels (though I seem to recall at least one of them eventually having a long strip serialization).
An adaptation tag by itself doesn't mean it'll be an ad for the full version elsewhere.

My suggestion would be to have a 'promo/advert/teaser' tag (with one of the options picked), to encompass releases made to never conclude the plot on purpose (which may eventually be serialized, or remain unfinished versions of stories, for an ending/continuation of which you'd have to look outside of the those).
Methinks it'd help with filtering those out if you're not interested.
It's a peeve when you're reading something, and suddenly bam, you're hit with a 'go to source material/completely different medium if you want to see how it concludes' wall.

About as much of a peeve as conflating 'complicated polycule of relationships' (think love triangle or bigger) with 'harem' (multiple parties in a relationship, romantic or physical), especially once a story ends up with romance resolved to be a '1 on 1' relationship. Yeah, a polycule could end up becoming a harem, but it doesn't have to.
At least it's my pet peeve.
