The girls do develop feelings for him and he obviously still has his desires. Realistically, only hope for good ending is if he gets to his destination and is told that he can finally embrace his desires. This is me speaking from a person with no clue about buddhism, so I'm gonna say its probably not gonna happen but idk. It's a light-hearted enough manga that it would make sense for it to break the ideology for the sake of making the characters happy, especially since its already gone out of its way to genderswap plenty of characters.
