From what I've heard, Japanese feminists and the LGBTQ community are far from thrilled about how female or especially queer themes are portrayed in ecchi and borderline hentai manga. Even if Rui is noticeably more progressive than many similar writers, his stories are still frustratingly full of the old Japanese stereotypes about female or queer female sexuality, which is one of the reasons he received several accusations on Twitter a couple of years ago. (Some feminist really didn't like the "anal" chapter with Beruko). However, he himself classifies his work as softcore porn and, as we can see, is ready to stop it because of his family and daughter, so it is possible that in real life his views are more down to earth. Which may be the case given my experience with other Japanese left or right writers.
