@SrNevik I'd say I agree with you. While there have been spots where one part or the other has taken the main stage, it always seems to come back to both.

Personally, they could drop all the action, I just skip all that anyway.
I personally read this because it's always done both so I'd be disappointed if it just became a random series of sex. I think the fights are done really well and the new characters it brought are all really fun. Based on his past, I don't think he enjoys writing something without a narrative to go along with it; but having said that, I know we all will want different things and that's also cool. This series has kind of become a wrestling version of Mikarun X, which works for me but yeah.

They'll never give up on action, because Rui doesn't write pure hentai and has always been a battle manga writer. The question is with how intelligent or meaningful the storyline he accompanies it.

Reading interviews about his career, I got the impression he always wanted to be someone like Yabuki, writing battle shonen. But ultimately, it all comes down to the fact that Shonen Jump was shocked by his level of ecchi, while his adult magazine readers didn't want a story where ecchi was just a secondary element. I wouldn't say he suffers from a lack of fulfillment as an artist, but judging by his past titles, he tends to enter Aka mode when reality prevents him from fully realizing what he wants. But fortunately or unfortunately, Aka and Rui have different approaches to the idea of "stopping caring about the plot."

Just to be clear, I am not saying “no narrative”. I just don’t care about the fighting. Eroticism without a narrative is super boring, just the same as action without a narrative would be boring too.

It's up to you whether you're satisfied with a particular narrative or not. Personally, I'm very disappointed by how much the story deteriorated around the tournament arc (Dropping the dead father plot wasn't the best move when you literally built the subjective best arc of the manga just on that), but if that's still enough for you, then why not? As was rightly said above, everyone expects different things from the same story.

Damn has it been two years already..?
I need to get my hand on the official release, its a shame the author abandonned the more substantial plot but a chill story is still good if it means I can read more from him

Here I was expecting people to go “wait this is an official release” but half the discussion is either cheering that it returned or jeering over its content

After the summer purge, everything became so uncertain that people no longer know whether to expect the translation of new chapters to be dropped due to the official translation or not. Or perhaps they simply didn't pay attention. For example, I still don't understand whether the guy retranslated this chapter or just posted a scanlation of the official translation.

It’s the official translation. There are a few telltale signs, like the font used for dialogue (IIRC it’s a paid one), the fact that everything is lettered, and lack of credits

So this goes even further than a fan translation of a licensed manga?

It is just the licensed manga
You misunderstood me. I mean, they didn't just break the rules by posting a chapter of a licensed manga, they didn't even retranslate it, just scanned the licensed translation, breaking the rules even more flagrantly?

Yep. It’s the same energy as how Shueisha has a program where indie artists can submit their own manga and I’ve seen people just… post the first chapter of Demon Slayer in there. Or AI-generated manga. Look at this shit.

weirdest part is that checking the uploader’s profile, they also do actual fan-translated chapter uploads. So… why not just focus on those?

Is it possible they simply misunderstood and confused scans of the official manga with a fan translation? Judging by the discussion, many people weren't aware that the manga has been licensed in the US for several years now.
