I’ve read the guro manga, wasn’t my jam but if anything it adds to the story, this shot is depressing, the “wholesomeness” was her getting better but if anyone bothered to remember that shit was painful, she was basically a corpse being resuscitated. It was hard for them both, and she only could of been healed by the mcguffin in the first place if she was stable seeing it’s big drawback is “sacrifice lifespan”. I hope I don’t have to explain a corpse’s lifespan. The only thing I would of liked to see is both of them having an aversion to forming a relationship because of how fucked up the power dynamics are. I thrive of melancholy anyways so people aren’t going to get that point

I read the original webcomic version of this, but there was something about it that felt rather off to me at the time. I ended up feeling rather ambivalent about the whole thing and I didn't really know why. Now that I know that the creator straight up did a guro hentai manga about her being tortured and raped...I think I'm just going to do my best to forget about this whole thing and avoid this author in the future.

To whit, it is one thing to have abuse/sexual trauma of a character as their backstory or even show it, but it is quite another to create it for people to wank to in explicit detail. It's just...icky, and it taints the later story of recovery and healing.

Author!, you made an incredible and gut punching story, this is basiaclly the sam style as "Redo of healer" and "Goblin slayer", mostly goblin slayer vibes tho.

I get people hate the exploitation adult comic that the author also did. It's not really in the realm of the REALLY fucked up toxic crap that Japan sometimes produces (that would really deserve to be banned, burned and prosecuted IMHO), but it's what it is.

But I suggest you try to ignore that and take the story at its face value ("Death of Author", though flawed concept, could serve here).

The old single-pages series was very good that way, I've read it and rooted for poor elf almost since the start and I don't regret it in the least. Questionable choices/ideas towards the end, but the general theme and premise? GOOD and JUST.

My only complain is the ending, could have been better. I really wish it didn't come to the unfortunate side effect of the thing that was used in the end. Such stuff feels like the elf woman gets "adjusted" to fit a human husband, in a way it's treating her as a thing/object.


I would have preferred her to recover as a full fledged long-lived elf, even if it would have left her more scarred and crippled. The theme of helping her return home as her wish was would have been stronger if she got reintegrated with her people and family and so on. I think it would be more kino if she didn't end with based apothecary guy, each eventually getting their own family. Seeing her truly recover and overcome the horrible past like that would have to be the ultimate feeling of satisfaction and acomplishment (and way of atonement) for him as a healer...
