Isekai just means another world. It's not saying he got sent to another world, but that it's a fantasy world unrelated to ours. The term just got co-opted into a different meaning than the actual japanese word, similarly to "hentai" just meaning pervert and having nothing to do with erotic manga in japan.

For the MC to have this hairstyle he has to make the conscious decision to cut the front and sides while letting only the back grow long to maintain a ponytail. So visually he's in this weird hybrid state of typical anime MC hair and MC with long hair. Kind of wish the artist would've chose to lean into one or the other cause I can't help but keep noticing how funny his hair looks lol. If you google "anime male with ponytail" you can see a lot of examples where a guy with long hairstyle looks good.
