I’m actually ok with the memory thing. Hear me out.

So the author had a fun idea for a series, and didn’t know how to keep it running or wrap it up. Something we have ALL seen 100 times before I’m sure. But the memory thing… it means he can use basically the same characters, story beats, and outcomes, all over again one more time before they get their memory back and make a semi-natural ending.

Instead of trying to write at a higher level than he can, the author has a chance to just… do what he’s good at. Simple characters and funny situations. Doesn’t need new characters or anything, can just show them post-time skip (and gets to cheat their development with said time skip), have a few small arcs of funny stuff with the memory loss, and jump right into the romance for the MC and FMC.

Once they remember their past, the story wraps up, and ends on a perfectly fine note. Won’t be amazing, won’t be bad, just works fine and done.

I think this is a smart way to end a series that probably went much longer than planned.

after reading 17 chapters uploaded today, I’m still confused why kukuri and his friends don’t try to restore kukuri and eliza memories using magic (whether forbidden magic or ancient artifacts). returning to landlord plot was forced especially when they’re still amnesiac I’m sure those assassins will eventually be defeated by MC. now just waiting to see who’s behind them ordering murder Kukuri

Thank you so much for the translator and people who are donating. These bulk uploads really help to keep up with the story.

For the 3 years timeskip, I think the author just have clumsy idea on developing Kukuri and Eliza relationship properly. I think it is not a really random idea because when Kururi mentioned to change territory into craftmanship-focused, he actually planned it already during the drought.
I think the timeskip help to slow the story down.
One thing I'm bit disappointed is that none of relationship changed (aside from Kukuri and Eliza who practically husband-wife right now). Ark is still chasing after Iris and Crossy-Vine relationship is still stagnating.

The point of the amnesia is to show everything that Kururi has accomplished I think. How respected he is.

BTW the people keep falling because the tile is wet marble.

Kururi ordering them around made me think of Wilhelm Voigt. You order people around confidently, and they'll just do as you say lol.

My take is they assume if MC/Kukuri cannot do it himself using his own magic, then nothing will work.
MC did remember a few things from them telling stories.

Since the chapters 57-100 appears to be reuploads from a now closed/defunc group/site, then I expect no further releases for months
Unsure if SilasMeanQuite did the same, but if not, then looks to be best hope for releases.
Raw is at 103 - from 2025-10-10.

I think even more so now this would work as a world reinvention like 100-ish years in the future not some frustrating amnesia 3 year arc.

Firstly, his original plan hinges on his knowledge of the previous world (the otome game part) plus his experiences which heavily have upended everything that was in the game (his lived life). Giving him amnesia, even if it is undone later, wrecks that basis because it essentially is an entirely different character as we see. This is legit solved by giving a new character the “soul” of this one and pushing everything into the future. You can still have all the rumors vs fact vs feeling discussion, and talk about what was recorded versus what was witnessed, and use a lot of things as relics and myths and legends that come up as winks and nods to this story.

Secondly, it’s just not fun to see these characters do this run-around. Legit before the whole “Ultimate Magic Death Curse” arc we were actually on the cusp of having some interesting stuff happen. To be honest his attachment to his original goal legit only had weight for a few dozen chapters, but it feels like he’s so far past that and actively rewarded in universe for it as well. He’s not going to be disgraced, or fight the prince, or not marry Eliza so what even is the worry? EVERYONE is in a different and better place so... now we take 10? 20? 30? Chapters to essentially spin wheels? Sure things are technically happening but it’s like an extended gag instead of anything interesting.

The only thing of note is Ark learning what it means to rule and empathize with the people and even that has turned out weak.
