What are we doing here? 1. A M N E S I A kinda sucks as a story device because it always appears this late in the game and 2. Couldn’t we have done something like “Their spirits were drawn into the earth and then 150 years later came back out to rest in two newborn souls” thus the author ends this manga and then makes a new on in the same world but pushed forward 150 years? We could have a character with the “soul” of MC but who fundamentally isn’t him, and the worldbuilding could be progressed etc etc. It feels a bit weird to have them jump forward in the same bodies only 3 years.

Not asking for spoilers but does anybody know how long this story is supposed to go on for?

If you go back to the beginning, this is what our protagonist has been preparing for from day one. This is the payoff to all his prep. The NPC version of Kururi also make the sacrifice with Eliza, and became a whipped potato farmer.

Things go on a decent while longer. About the amnesia: They keep it for quite a while, even after moving back into the mansion. They get cured not too long before the marriage and ending. At least for the web novel, but based on previous additions, this will probably add more story compared to that. The Prince Arc story earlier wasn't in the web novel for instance.

Not sure how long the manga goes on for, but the light novel is a bit longer.

This whole scenario is just stupid.

First, if you're hoping to establish a repeat customer out of someone who's only in town for a limited time, why would not one but the both of them leave the shop before doctor Rial actually left town? Just make the guy wait a day or two which should be normal when preparing an expedition rather than diving in head first even if it should only take a day.

Second, why is no one is even remotely considering that this blacksmithing genius with rare red hair that adopted the same name and produces the same quality blades may in fact be one and the same.

Finally, with the name connection and the fact that some in the capital are still (I'm assuming) trying to make the MC into a criminal for the cursed swamp incident, how have there not been any royal guards dispatched to look into the MC yet?

This plot like a complete reset is the whole series. Not gonna lie , i feel it's better for them too not remember and all we can treat the whole 70 chapters before as nothing but a backstory

They think he ran off or died...if they think he ran off, then someone smithing and using his name would be something immediately investigated. Reasoning is twofold, either they are committing fraud by impersonating a member of the blacksmith elite table (can't remember the official name) recognized by the royal family, or it is a suspected criminal dumb enough to reveal themselves by using their real identity.

Either way, with the popularity of the shop among nobles their existence isn't something that could remain quiet for several months since their reawakening as it has.
