The game they are talking about 100% is melee no? Mentions foxes fast fall speed so he gets comboed and shows the gamecube controller a ton.

Yes, the author is a big fan of melee and very good at it:

Thanks to the popularity of his LN, he became friends with aMSa too. They even played a friendly match together

Among the light novel authors community, he's one of the best smash players, and he likes to give advice/guide for his fellow authors like Mikawa Ghost (the author of ImoUza/ https://mangadex.org/title/43822/tomodachi-no-imouto-ga-ore-ni-dake-uzai)

didn't like this last arc for the prez job, feels a bit weird and if he won it would set up a really hard arc to pull off soo he just gone with the lost lol.

It's not bad, but it spends too much time infodumping and acting like every single thing it says will work for every person. The start is also rough with a lot of edginess and contrivances until it smooths out a bit. Someone as misanthropic as the MC at the start wouldn't suddenly change just because someone called them out, and the FL wasn't being especially convincing when she did so, she mostly just came across as forcing her ideals onto him.

I think the core premise would work better if he decided to change himself rather than needing someone to hold his hand throughout. That way it could encourage people to change themselves without waiting for a fairy godmother. It would also give the series an excuse to be wrong sometimes, rather than the FL knowing exactly what to do for him at all times.
