Text can be hard to get the right meaning across (I don't mean between us in this conversation but just generally)
A person's reference point for what is "normal" is not themselves, but the people around them, so if a beastfolk lives in a community that is mostly composed of humans (as Rose seems to), then they will see "human" as the default and categorize people accordingly, even if that means putting themselves in the category of "exceptions". Shaquille O'Neal doesn't think that he's "normal sized" and everyone else is a midget - he knows that he's the outlier, and being an outlier is in fact a major part of his identity.
