@Tych yeah i agree with u, MC could've cover up their slip ups(he had a lot of basic skills {heal and etc} so he could've help out in areas that needed him), probably did a lot of the chores(cooking, laundry, and etc) while the party was out on adventures(cause he seems so well adapt at it), probably help boost the moral of the party when they were down or during hard fights.

No, no, no. Look at it like this.

1. Douglas gets cursed = Douglas fails quests
2. Douglas dispels his curse and Ravi’s, and now the hero party is failing quests

Whatever he did, whatever was on him, didn’t go away completely. It’s more like he removed a Hex that “shifts a Hex onto a different target”. Douglas didn’t remove the Hex entirely, he simply bounced it back to whoever it’s supposed to be on originally.

That's what you get for Force Retiring your heavy hitter, all for a spotlight.

@Talismaster

A reflect? Reflecting Hex Curses isn't an easy feat. A curse is simply a computer virus. So a virus that got "Return to sender" and that sender opened the mail and got cursed from his own spell would be like getting a taste of your own medicine.

@boag

Then that would mean

Any who threaten the hero's spotlight, gets cursed via item.

It's odd, usually in a heroes party reject story the cause of failure is something obviously tied to the person given the boot. Rude's ultimate tank skills no longer covering for other people's stupidity or Red's management and strategic abilities being gone causing conflict inside and outside the party. But Our boy here wasn't necessarily a critical role though he may have had ample support ability from his cheat like endeavor to LEARN EVERYTHING.

@Talismaster plus his curse was basically that all skills/magic took from his maximum health along with mana or whatever is used to make skills happen. it was literally killing him, and if the reflect curse hadn't bounced back his dispel hex he would have died then and there. If THAT particular curse had bounced back on the entire hero party, it would be more than just failing quests.

For the people saying that the reason hero's party is doing badly is because they no longer have Douglas. If you check the first chapter it states that Douglas was kicked out of the hero's party 6 months ago. So if it was really just Douglas being that important they would have probably noticed problems sooner.

The MC was going solo for awhile when Ch. 1 started. I don't remember how long he had gone solo. The hero party seems to still be doing fine then. Or maybe it was just appear that way from the outside.

Also, the curse/hex was mistaken as disease or natural affliction at first. By everybody, even doctors. So it wasn't a straight forward curse/hex. To me, it felt more malicious. It wasn't just slowly killing the MC without him knowing but also strip away his pride and self-esteem in the process.

I don’t remember they giving info about the role Douglas had in the party... generally in these stories, the party falling is something the kicked guy “manages” or “support”... I would say (guessing) probably Douglas had the “moral brake” role in the hero party, the one that makes them respect other beings, without him, they return to the state Douglas remembered when he and Ravi met the big bird.

Why are they failing you ask?

Cause Alan is a piece of unreliable meat sack of a human that got consumed by his envy to daddy Doug.

You forgot the Magician who got kicked out from the Hero party but also gained a Cheatbook, that makes it FOUR.

@Talismaster huh, that kinda explains why the curse doesn't show up in his status screen, since he himself isn't technically cursed.
though i don't think that applies to Ravi since a normal dispel hex failed to purify her curse (which is why Douglas get purified in the first place)
