A weird fantasy example of decentralized nervous system. Fun fact, octopus does something similar. Their tentacles can move independently after being removed from the main body, just shortly though. For the insane level, look up planarium flatworm (in the same family as earthworm), those thing can regenerate head after decapitation, with memories intact apparently.
