These last few chapters with Fuwa have been quite disappointing, since they're moving further and further from a realistic setting.

Rikudou is pretty much a normal girl. She's a bit tall, but that's it. She's not massive, she's not muscular, she doesn't even have any visible scars or keloids, which she would definitely have if she was getting into fights regularly. Yet she's portrayed having a resilience way above her body. Fuwa is shredded, he looks like the part. Why doesn't she?

Honestly, I think that the author wants to keep the theme of the original oneshot, where it's less about fighting, and more about Female MC being a monster/psychopath, while keeping the setting of a high-school beat-em up (that was probably suggested by the manga editor). But there it made sense her not looking like a seasoned fighter because she was straight shooting motherfuckers and hitting them with steel pipes from behind. Here, though, it's just making the writing look aimless and inconsistent.
Setsuna is tall and pretty toned, her legs are developed as shown whenever she demonstrates a technique that requires her lower body to control or block.

The art style doesn’t always emphasize on it, mostly because she's not buff nor a heavyweight like Fuwa therefore her upper body is lean rather than bulky; she basically got the infamous sleeper build.

She looks like some tall female bantamweight and flyweight mma fighters when they're not cutting or on fight night; Megan Anderson, Holly Holm, Dakota Ditcheva etc.

I do however agree with you overall that it's getting a slightly more absurd than it started off, it still keeps the semi realistic logic and she's basically cheating while he's already conflicted.

Author likes the girl though clearly. That ain't happening.
did you forget about the first chapter already? protag has a dream where hes a very strong man, and he uses his strength to do whatever the fuck he wants, which in the grand scheme of things, is defeat a violent highschool girl as shown in the dream. im pretty sure theres no other foreshadowing as obvious as that

Don't know a lot about fighting, but couldn't he just, jump and land on his back so his whole weight slams her?

I was thinking about that initially but apparently a backslam isn't an effective technique to make your opponent lose their hold.

If the MMA champ actually tries it, he better hope for a lucky K.O or breakthrough. Otherwise Rikudou would probably shrug off the attempt and then tighten her hold on the MMA champ to finish him.

That's just his delusions and I doubt the author would do this to the girl or make his mc a rapist.

Maybe she has that super rare genetic disorder where you dont feel pain and she''s trying to feel something? I dunno man, she's tanking too hard.

pain or not, how is she still concious with that many blows to the head? She's already not ok mentally. This is some shonen shit but "friendship" is replaced with RBE (raging bitch energy)

Why the fuc is this fight going on so long? They're throwing in bros backstory which is THE sign he's about to eat shit. Like what's the point of this fight from a narrative perspective. She still won't train the mc and will just pick a fight with whoever offers? Maybe next is a long arc of him in random street fights while she goons from the corner.

Thanks translators!

she's a fucking highschool girl bro, it doesnt matter how much skill she has she's still a highschool girl against grown adult men.
That's why the story shows that's she's not a regular highschool girl, but someone who thrives for violence so much that she became some type of entity with crazy strength and endurance
To answer this reread her fight with the thug. It explicitly states she only won based on technical knowledge and she takes several blows there as well and is acknowledged to be physically weaker.

And the high schooler obviously doesn’t know a thing about technique compared to Rindou.

And yes technique does make a difference as for example a palm strike hurts more than a punch because you push off your wrist’s bones instead of your finger bones.

Strength Only matters when you hit all your shots as well

If you doubt me still show me one fight where she physically overwhelms someone and not because she’s more skilled.

You don't know what realism is if you think 'muh skill' allows you to beat up 3 adult men who jumped you by surprise from behind and dragged you into a van before you beat them up and no sold a car accident at full speed.

Most people don't give a shit.

Or much more likely, you just want this manga to be something it isn't, never was and never will be for a single page.

'Muh slop' Boring buzzword, you might as well cry that it's 'yucky'.

For the three adult men as well they came after her one by one so she had the footing to beat them 1 v 1 individually before moving to the next and that’s how it is portrayed in the panels.

Am I saying everything’s perfect? No. But the author has very clearly been going from a realistic lens with his portrayals of moves and most of her wins. Even with Fuwa the author isn’t giving auto wins to her and shows her struggling (and probably losing).

So there is this expectation built that she is operating on a basic realistic system that grounds her from just beating fuwa bloody despite strength gaps.

Think of it like a fantasy magic system except with calf kicks and judo grapples to it.

As for my point about the manga concept. IT WAS INTENDED to be something else. The author has an entire one shot on the original concept which has 2 very suspiciously similar character models and personality.

Why abandon something that people said looked interesting and unique? Publishers likely. It happens all the time and that’s why I said that.

Though credit where credit is due the author could’ve adapted if they were mor skilled and gone the route of jujutsu Kaisen or the like that had some of the same Publishing problems.

And yes people do give a shit. You may not but the vast majority of comments sprouted up during fuwa arc because of how unrealistic it is for her to beat the world’s best MMA fighter.

So please Cite some actual evidence against me next time if you want to make another point.

Yeah but he needs to grapple her to do it and also he’s meant to go easy on her as she’s a high schooler and he’d feel dishonorable for doing it that way.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing, man. Our original argument is that this manga is not supposed to be realistic from the start, seeing how she has superior endurance and strength than a normal high school girl.

Yes, she's skilled, but she must have some sort of strength buff. She might not be one punch man-tier, but she necessarily needs to have high strength and endurance. I'm sure you're aware of how weak a high school girl is

You asked if there's any fights where she wins by overwhelming with strength, we could argue that it's every fight since she needs the superior strength to knock out her opponents.

In the fight against the thug, doesn't she win with a barrage of punches? Meaning, using strength to overwhelm him? Even if you count it as a technique, she still needs the strength to actually take him out.
Could she realistically win 1v3 inside a tight space using nothing but skill? I think not.

It doesn't matter how much "skill" she has, skill alone can't make her stronger than people taller and heavier than her. Isn't that literally the reason why we separate people by weight class in professional sports?

Sure, the manga as a breakdown of her moves, but I personally think that serves more as meta excuse to have a reason for the MC and her to keep in contact. I don't think it was meant to show that she's a normal person who trained and became like this. I think it was meant to show that she's a girl with superior strength and who trained because of her obsession with violence

adrenaline will only get you so far. she should be dealing with concusions, many broken bones and probably some internal bleeding and damaged organ tissue. at minimum.

MMA champ managed to pry Rikkou off and put her ass to sleep for good.

However, turns out it was a dream. In reality Rikkou managed to choke him out. The fight is now over.

I have. Big difference between questioning reality and abandoning safety for truth and what Setsuna is doing - exploiting the protection offered by societal norms and human decency to have a good time.
Wow, you're right, that joke has a huge plot hole.
