Yeah, it's a stretch. If the old man is a pure striker with no ground game, it might be a bit more believable if the MC lucks out and just happens to get him in flying triangle or the old man slips on a banana peel and lands face first into MC's knee.

An experienced striker will make short work out of any below avarage ground fighter, let alone a ground fighter that started training 1 week ago.

After Rikudo won against Fuwa, this manga jumped straight through a shark tank and landed solidly into the "battle shounen" category. MC is gonna win this thing Saint Seiya style: getting hit like a bitch yet still being able to come out with a win. every. single. time.

It's like Wimp Lo but he has thorns aura lvl99 and maxed out the hp regen.

Honestly, my bet is he either wins via the power of plot armor

- He makes the tactical decision to retreat, as there are no rules against that

- Crazy girl comes crashing in to take out the old man and reveal her plan was to take advantage of the ”no rules rule” to steal a bracelet and force entry into the competition

- MC makes the hilarious choice to say to make the old man retreat or fight with much less confidence by stating “You know what? Nah, we’re fighting right here or not at all. From the perspective of literally everyone around us, you’re assaulting me! A minor!”
