Another edgy power creep manga, there sure are a lot of them.

I mean, it seems so edgy at the outset, he's screaming consume in his mind and yet he's not actually eating anything. It's just some abstract form of gluttony.

I mean the manga could've kind of set itself apart if he actually ate his enemies and his powers revolved around eating monsters and being influenced by what he eats. (KIRBY, cough, cough)

Then you could power creep the MC while he internally fights what he's becoming. Give him something to protect so that he has a reason to strive for power, so he consumes more monsters, but make it so that the person he wants to protect is some righteous heroine or something or an innocent who can't stand evil. So that the more power he gains the closer he gets to losing the things he loves. That's drama.

But no this is the typical "OH I'M A LOSER, BUT WAIT, I SUDDENLY HAVE THIS POWER, KILL THINGS, GET GIRLS, DO MORE EDGY STUFF."

A real pity, because I do like the kind of story where a loser works toward becoming the most powerful person, there just seems to be a general lack of creativity in this genre.

I'm very disappointed he doesn't actually eat the goblins. It would make an extremely funny scene later if someone he knows caught him eating goblins and other questionably things nobody else would normally consider edible. Just stealing their skills after killing them makes this a dime a dozen story. But then again, the Japanese love copy-paste stories more than they love panty shots, which is saying a whole lot.
