Reiji is definitely comparing Mao to Yuko and Grandma and is attacking Mao as a proxy for his revenge on Yuko.

The problem he has is that he is expecting being able to get them to admit they were wrong, but as with everyone in this story, they have gaslighted themselves into a comfortatble story so they continue on living their painful lives.

The only way then for him to reject them is death, but Nagi and everyone else around him wont let that happen either.

If he keeps living, he'll end up gaslighting himself and the cycle will keep continuing.

The cycle will end with his and Nagi's deaths or escape from town, but he's too damaged to ever attempt to recover so death seems the most viable option. At least he will have some peace by dying with the woman he loves.
