That's the intention.
To gather everyone who still weren't saved from their abysses, except Yuko (still abyss'd, but can't be at the bridge for obvious af reasons), at the bridge. Yuri will inevitably spot them and frame Nagi as a suicide enabler once again, triggering Reiji and making him overacting on his feelingd, and Ishibashi will catch heat on Reiji not being at his house when he goes to pick him out.

Gen, Chako, and even Esemori are total, or partially free from their abysses. Esemori is even making amends for his actions. That leaves only Reiji, Nagi, Yuko and Yuri (the central characters) as the ones who have to leave the abyss. Besides, the series opening text from the color page in Ch.1 in the magazine version (RAW) said 少年は 愛する女性と 光をめざして。。。, roughly tl'd as the boy who's aiming for the light, with the woman he loves (although hikari can also be interpreted as happiness too, some words in japanese have a different meaning based on mere context). Pretty much if one leaves the abyss the other does too, if one keeps wallowing in the mud, the other will do it too.

Seriously, this pretty much was the best thing that could have happened.
I think I'll wait until chapter 160 to see if that'll actually be the case.
I can see how this can go horribly wrong, or be a good thing.

The next few chapters will likely decide how this will impact everyone.
While you're likely right, at least for the near future, I can see how this could have a terrible outcome.

It will depend if Ryo either is climaxing the manga with the upcoming happenings or if she is going to drag this until volume 21.

At least we have a definitive release date for volume 15 (Chapts. 141-151): december 19th. Depending on the cover, we should guess what will this manga's fate be. Anyway, if you think about that, the latest chapters have been shorter (18 pages vs 20), meaning vol. 16 may include even more chapters.

The manga started in 2020, how much time has passed in the story?
"Ten years ago" probably checks out for the great earthquake of 2011. I wonder how this chapter's reception was in Japan.

Story began around autumn 2020, the first timeskip made the story jump to january 2021 and we are actually at March 4th of that year.

About the reception, it was mixed towards very negative, sadly. It ticked some people's sensitive points because Nagi was clearly referring to the Great Tohoku Earthquake.

While some got hooked up, others felt disappointed, criticized the use of a real life event to justify a character's backstory in a series seen as a fictional work. Some think Nagi is the weakest part of the series because of that, and pretty much most people still keep reading this bc of Yuri's antics, even if they know she is heading towards a cruel wake up.

Considering what Nagi said, that may also imply Nagi isn't from Tokyo, but from a town from that prefecture or a prefecture nearby, just to add more symbolisms. Japanese people think Reiji's town is Hita, placed near Fukuoka, in Oita prefecture, at the opposite corner of Honshu island, because it shares some places and landscapes with that town, even though the town, in story, is named Mukatsu).

Top panel of page 12 is confusing me. Is that Reiji or Esemori?

Survivors gullt huh. Actually not something I expected coming from this. It's surprisingly "normal".

What chapter was the nagi DVDs?
138. But pretty much only pics were shown, and Reiji overblew it with the words.

DVDs are major and shadier words, and given the actual dates, Nagi may have done those dvds prior to the modification to the lolicon laws in 2014 (junior idol industry took a massive hit that year because the ownership of things considered as child pornography started to become illegal. Most of the agencies had to close down).

tl;dr Nagi's backstory is way worse than Yuko's and we aren't prepared for that.

Since Nagi doesn’t want to die anymore, Reiji is either going to kill himself in the final hours of the series, try to live a normal life but realize that he’s practically alone, try to perpetuate the cycle that his mom was in or attempt to run away with Nagi but fail because Nagi finally knows what she wants.

Thanks for the TL!

Everyone's discussion is so great this time I don't have anything meaningful to add, but can we also talk about how adorable baby Chako is in that panel I miss seeing everyone looking happy

I would say mixed reviews. I remember a manga that went on full on hiatus and then DROPPED because of the earthquakes that happened in the manga and IRL in the time of Japan. Earthquakes are a very touchy subject in Japan

It's quite strange to find harsh criticism on X, but this chapter has sure pissed lots of readers.
