they used something on that student friend of mc in chapter 1 that made him look kinda drugged too, and mc is a very rare outlier himself.

also those working adults this chapter are in a very important job working for the system directly so it's natural they give them extra brainwashing

for the parent part,it was established that the camera surveillence is still underway in its implementation, mc house didn't have a camera iirc and this was like 10+ year prior,mc said that his statue was erected like 4 years prior so things are not 100% established.

the hair part depend on the fiction setting and in many places long hair is not necessarily a rebellions/inappropriate thing if not done in some fashion way
