The scene depicted is one much further in the future, after her mom left.

I can see how it's confusing though.

Man, what were the chances that the chapter about a good father was translated perfectly on Father's Day? Maybe there is a God because I don't believe you guys planned that.

Anyway, I like that Joy doesn't go crazy because she's been a Gatekeeper for a long time. And Burner finally calls out the problem of the current law; you get killed if you commit a crime, not based on what crime you commit.
