@migh my guess is that, i think the author's trying to trick you into believing that the heroine's a prostitute but she's not. She's at the bridge probably because she just want to hang around with cats. Also i think the real prostitute's his mom. Mom probably uses that bridge as a base of operations to find customers at night. That might clear up all the misunderstanding.
