I don't get the message. He didn't get any satisfying answer to his question, "Why study in school/college?". Shinra's response was a non-answer. I mean Shinra was home-schooled after all. Shinra said the kid doesn't know the question, even more so than the answer. What does that even mean?

And the mangaka tried really hard to make the kid unlikable. I mean, come on. Your grandma got hospitalized, and you complained about not going to Springland. Dafuq.

I think the message is that you can't tell what value an answer has without understanding the question and its context to a sufficient degree.

4V29LN0n, you seem to have missed the point. The kid really isn't asking 'why should I study', he's trying to figure out what's the point of life itself - why is anything that society places importance on of value. He obviously finds the purely materialistic motive for school; 'getting a job with a good company', to be unsatisfying, and is looking for something more. Shinra explains that the search for knowledge itself is the reward, that for him a life spent in the pursuit of mysteries and historical truths is immensely satisfying.

Btw, by "Dewgong", I think you actually meant "dugong" instead. Dewgong is a Pokemon after all.

There's no way they were able to get a space elevator in less than 30 years unless like every major country worked together
