Well this was really educational.

Could you give us some info on who is Shri Varuna and what role they play in this?

@Doomroar
Shri Varuna is the God Of water, and Makara is the steed of Varuna, in hinduism many gods have a steed, like garuda for Vishnu, Tiger for Durga, and the Makara for Varuna.
(Makara is name for hybrid creatures in hinduism) and Nadindra is a Makara as well

Sadly i don't know what "Selo Katinggal" blade is.
Naga actually suprised me a little, it's more or less the same as dragon from my local mythology.

@LowSanity it is! The difference is in weight, handle, and the variation of sizes.. Selo katinggal specimens that have been excavated are varied in sizes, from only a knife sized, machette sized, and up to hand an a half sword size..from the relief and ancient documents it's said that They are the main weapons of the majapahit troops...

Loved every bit of this manga, please continue. Also will we also see some Islamic influence later on? Since Indonesia is also Islamic.

Islamic influence did enter Indonesia in early medieval era, but it's still minor influence in this era (14th century)
But later there are some islamic character

I see, but do we see historical events like the fall of Majapahit and the rise of the Malacca Sultanate? And also the the shift in culture and religious tradition? @RizkyArrydesta

Those events are centuries apart, for example the current event is happened in mid 1384, where the black death reached and devastated spain (thus alvaro fleed to indonesia Using his family trading connection), and the majapahit is currently in the queen tribhuwannatunggadewi hands, the empire haven't reached it's golden period yet.. So it's still to far in the future for the rise of sultanate...(the sultanates formed around during or after the split of majapahit empire)

@RizkyArrydesta Very interesting, how did Alvaro reach Indonesia since the Cape of Good hope hasn't been discovered yet? Did he travel through the Silk road like the Italian merchants (Who had treaties with the Islamic powers in the area) or sailed from the Red sea (Which is very difficult since it was under Mamluk control)? Sorry if am asking too much, Im a historian and I'm a fanatic when it comes to historical accuracy XDDD

The Majapahit kingdom did became a trading center at that time,and a lot of european country did reached indonesia and do some tradings with the majapahit kingdoms (sadly a lot of these records are lost in wars after the fall of majapahit), my speculation both of the routes are possible, but most possible route is to travel via silk road..funny thing is There's an Italian monk that reached indonesia that time around 1330, my assumption both route is viable (a safe but longer route via silk road, or shorter but more risky and dangerous route via red sea)

A bit spoiler and note- in the early conception of the story I give alvaro and ariella a group of bodyguards-mercenaries if I may say, to guarantee their safety, but got seperated after the incidents... These mercenaries might make their appearance later in the story (if they survived the storm) 😄
Should they make their appearance? What do you think??

I see, I hope you shed more light on it as the story progresses (In some sort of flashbacks or explanations by Alavaro). Because these scenes/world-building in general is candy! 🤩

As for the spoiler, yep I would like to see more of these bodyguards/mercenaries. It would also help the world-building, because European traders relied on foreign mercenaries/body-guards for protection thus giving you a chance to insert diverse characters in the story. 😄 So along the way, Alvaro's father could've hired Moorish guides (Muslim Iberians and Maghrebis), bribed Mamluks who want profit, Venetian translators, etc. Lets not forget that one of the last Islamic kingdoms still stands on Iberia (Nasrids), perhaps you could capitalize on that too? 🤔
