The part with the pancakes probably hit the hardest; this visual disconnect what he was seeing with his eyes and feeling with his arms.



Scratch that, it all hit hard. Especially when she said that he was forcibly let go when he hit retirement age.

As someone who's coming to terms with their age and lifespan, this hits me hard. But I have nobody to rely on and have no connections. It sucks being a hikikomori with a disability, potentially forever stuck in poverty.

I'm not even that old yet, but I may not even live old enough to see my children grow up that much, if I ever have any. I may lifespan may have been cut short to live as long as the lower 10% of lifespans in my country and I may die before my mother, but on the bright side of life, I've already lived longer than 1% of all people and somehow overcame paralysing death twice, so that's something.
