I guess...that explains it?
Both Bearing Rover and Gears Repeater are grade 1 units, so Chrono couldn't have started out with Gears Repeater
Also, I didn't realise this was a V series manga, that's kinda neat, though it's a shame we won't see actual G Units from Chrono; interesting to see one side using V series cards while the other uses G series

@Murakuma Nice catch. I actually didn't check up on the card's grade when translating the unit's names.

It's interesting you mention they use units from V. This is a pretty old one-shot.

@ryonan Yeah, it's weird; that is definitely Gears Repeater, though--its design matches the card. As far as I can find, Gears Repeater and Bearing Rover are both from the Chronojet trial deck, which is a V series trial deck, while Petit Ace is a Forerunner, which don't exist in V; I don't play Gear Chronicle nor Nova Grappler myself, so I only noticed the grades and series discrepancies at all because I looked up the units' names.

Additionally, the trial deck was only released this year, so I wonder if they had the V series planned this far back.
