Both old and newer DOOM games are good and cathartic, choose what you feel will be best for your enjoyment and/or finances (the old ones are less expensive). But if you want the cathartic effect, play in higher difficulty like ultra-violence if you're good : there is more ennemies on screen, more mayhem, more blood.

I played both the original and the new Doom. Never finished the original, I think. The new one gave me nasty headache after playing for about an hour. Could not continue. I meant a really terrible headache, combined with dizziness, that I have never had while playing any other video games. I could not sit and had to lie down for half an hour to feel better. I can play other shooters for hours, with no issues. But Doom 2016 is the only game that makes me feel sick and had to quit.

I don't know, i can't compare because i've never played Grears of Wars out of pure spite after Epic butchered Unreal Tournament 3 (and i was right since fortnite happened since). I don't see what's fan service in the new DOOMs.

Wolfenstein 3D did give me nausea when i played it for too long. And if no DOOM games made me sick, Eternal did tire me ! Just after a few hours playing, i fell tired, as if playing it was mentally exhausting in a good way. It's a quite stimulating game, full of relentless action, so it's not surprising and no, i'm not too old for that !

For zoomers to understand, just imagine suddenly appearing in the middle of a Minecraft village and be surrounded of denizens all saying "hum, hum!".

It took me some time to realise that "towart" and "towatch" weren't some expressions that whosaints used because she didn't know English but some idioms from that cult. Well, if I'm honest here I still think that people who use words like "gaslighting" for any post must have it hard at school.
