Did not expect this kinda spinoff but can't go wrong with cats lol

(I imagine it's more like "Mee - kay" versus "Like Mike" but it's pretty amusing to just see a cat name written as Mike lol)
You're right. That's how the name is pronounced in Japanese lol. Another manga I've read has a male calico with that same name and I kept wondering why did he have a western name for some reason. It wasn't until I found out about Mikeneko (a vtuber) that the name is commonly given to calico cat in Japan and isn't pronounced the western way

Yeah, I was unsure how to get that across in the translation. Most English speaking people will just see "Mike" not "mī-kayh"
I like keeping her Mike, because girl cats with boy names is cute. But my husband likes Micky better. 😅

Heh. I pretty much had the opposite problem when I was reading this series:
https://mangadex.org/title/58e52bea-76de-487b-acc9-b306e801bbe1/my-brother-s-husband

It involves a character from Canada named Mike. My brain kept confusing itself. 💀

maybe in official translations/localizations they put some kinda accent mark or and an extra 'i' or so (But i can totally imagine some ppl naming their pets western names b/c it sounds cute/cool like "Oliver")

Tho it is amusing when dogs/cats have 'human/average joe' names like "Steve" and such

If you want to keep the original pronunciation, then maybe you could put 'Mikeh' instead? Otherwise, if you want to put an English name, something like 'Callie' might be better, like a shortened form of Calico.

I had no idea there was a live action. Just found and watched the trailer for it. Thanks for mentioning it!

Basophils aren't B-cells. They don't make antibodies. They get activated by antibodies which make them secrete immune signaling molecules to do things like upregulate inflammation or downregulate clotting.

Red blood cells don't transport carbon monoxide, but carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide is particularly toxic since it can bind and lock with haemoglobin and rendering red blood cells unable to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Not super relevant, but for whatever it's worth, in Girls und Panzer, the Continuation High School, which is based on Finland, the three characters Mika, Mikko, and Aki all have male names, despite naturally being girls in the series. I reckon it might also be some kind of inside joke thing for the Japanese in the manga/anime industry, perhaps if a foreign male name sounds more like a female name in the Japanese ear.
