What? That's unfair.

I am usually scared of this kind of powercreep... this ain't a creep, it's a smash. I am still scared, this seems like such unfathomably powerful ability that I just cannot imagine a way anyone can defeat this unless it's an equivalently powerful ability... or some kind of "bullshit" ability. Which is what scares me. I don't want this story to go bullshit. What is the price to pay for this? Is Luka gone forever? There's a gotta be an equivalent price to pay for such a powerful ability. And given how this story is, I am sure the author will make Lucas pay plenty for it.

Edit: Also Luka broke the box that said "it's all too easy to understand the intent..." But he destroyed that idea. So, does that mean that there's no simple way to understand what he means to say?

He should destroy the metaphysical concepts of war and retire. Or of dying and save his medic waif.

Awww yeah that's the good shit. Be un-animateable.

Despite what the Margrave said, I don't believe that this could actually one-shot Julian, because both of their powers are divine blessings straight from gods.

When stories pull things this overpowered I tend to take it as a death flag, because the only way it doesn't wreck the story is by writing the character out.

IIRC when we first met Atoria, Lukas told her he had 2-3 charges left for the spear. Whether he gonna kicked the bucket after the last usage, lost his mind, or collapsed the reality is unclear.

Julian's gift requires souls, with each death paid off by one of those souls. Since his pact Gift affects the world, not just his body, Lukas has a stronger limitation that involves his lifespan. Remember, Gifted ones like him are supposed to live far longer than mundanes, so the fact he has so little juice left (three thrusts left, given he used it twice in this battle) is a bad sign.
