I might be misremembering but I recall Nayuta saying that she can control anyone that she considers to be beneath herself (I might be making this up) anyways she is the control devil and gave denji an order to tell yoshida to fuck off and he didn't so she also can't control denji. Not sure if that might become relevant but it's good to know.
Makima said that, not Nayuta.

Let me get this straight, you think that your client, one of the craziest and most powerful devil hybdrid in the world, who spends his nights eating horsemans and beating primal fears to a pulp with his bare chainsaws, should just stay calm and stop? And in order to achive that your plan is to blackmail this person?
Good luck.

Why is the Public Safety so incompetent?
They kidnapped Nayuta to threaten Denji, but they just brought her back to him, and then they let both walk away just like that.

I gotta say, man... my interest in Part 2 is kinda fading. I went from looking forward to each new release to "Oh, a new chapter dropped. Guess I'll read it".

Thinking of dropping it then coming back in 6 months.

Her power is to control anybody that considers himself inferior to her. It's an important difference, because that explains why Makima behaved the way she did. All her charm and intimidation tactics were meant to force you into believing she's way above you, and that's when you fall into her trap.

Her power as you describe it would be invincible, she would only need to pump her ego up a bit and she could control absolutely everyone.

Nayuta not controlling Denji means he no longer considers himself as inferior. He's no longer her simp, he beat and ate that bitch. Nayuta is now just his beloved bratty brocon little sister
I’m almost positive it’s said it’s dependent on who the control devil feels superior to, not how the other person feels about the control devil. That’s why Makima was so strong, because she was a sociopathic narcissist who thought she was better than everyone except Chainsaw Man. She had to resort to normal manipulation with Denji because she couldn’t bring herself to believe she was better than Chainsaw Man, though she was trying to.

Ahhhh right! I was unsure if I remembered that correctly. Turns out I had some wires crossed. Thanks for enlightening me!

If that were the case, she wouldn’t be able to mess with that devil’s brain a few chapters ago.

page 6 :
- octopus boy : ... nayuta-chan ... , denji-kun ...

page 14 :
octopus boy reminds me of gandalf in the 2013 film The Hobbit - The Desolation Of Smaug :

  • octopus boy : you just wait here with nayuta , and don't come out until I give the signal.
  • the other officer : right , wait for the signal.
  • Remember, wait for the signal.
  • The signal. Right , ... What signal would that be?
...........
  • it is too soon to let them meet .
  • huh ? you werent done yet ? you were moving your body , so i thought you gave me the signal to come out .
