I am neither Californian nor American, but I've been hearing California has been going to shit for years (worse than a third-world country), and I would actually NOT be surprised if the current governor of California pulls this shit.

Real life aside, it really is vile contracting everyone in California (or the US when Makima happened) when obviously they didn't consent for their lives to be used like that.

And aww geez, her mom? Reminder that she died after pushing Asa away because Asa tripped after she rescued a cat while on the run from the Typhoon Devil. AND then the kitty was murdered by the orphanage's caretaker.

All that death for nothing.

Funny enough, I can totally see our Governor Newsom doing this.
Now, I wonder what other governors will do.
And, how come countries like India and Brazil didn't make the same deal?

Fujimoto, please stop it, get some help, and finish this damn manga already.
This is getting more and more ridiculous.

Get her ass, Denji. The more you kill her the harder you save the world.

I didn't consent to taxes either, but that's literally never mattered.
I'm pretty sure neither the US Constitution nor the California Constitution allows the Executive to exchange the population to devils, but then again who knows how different laws are in this version of reality.

war: It costs me 5 californian lives to come back. How many more times are you going to kill me?
denji: 6,400,000 and some change.
actually... is that really denji?
i think it's pochita this time, since denji is chasing asa inside himself...

...

...i promise it DOES have sense if you read chapters!

So does this only include people inside California? People who have their listed address in California? People who live in the state more than 5 months have to file state taxes, does that count?

This is important, I need to know if this fixes Austin, Aspen and Nashville or not.

Fix'd for you
The governor made the deal as a representative of his political office, which would perhaps imply only people whose elected official he is are affected. So basically if you consider him your governor you're screwed. Maybe.

I'm sure you've ben fed only objective and reliable information.

I mean, your politicians can make laws that affect you directly even though you may not agree with them, this isn't very different. You can be against the death penalty, but it can still be voted into law in your jurisdiction and applied to you.

Denji must be like "Oh for fuck's sake, not another one of those inmortality deals! I hope Power's blood is still working inside me, but this is not what I meant when I said I want to eat Asa up"

You know, this is an interesting though, and I think it depends on how strict devil's contract is. And usually with these types of contracts, the more powerful the effect, the more strict the rules should be. I don't recall if Chainsaw Man ever cleared that up though.

Since Yoru drew up the contract, more "lives" for her would benefit her the most. That means less strict rules...

Yes, and smart enough to think for myself thank you very much. 😏

True, although it's a different when actual devils are involved. Usually with these things, the more powerful the effect, the stricter the contract.

I, as a writer, just think devil contracts shouldn't work that broadly. On the other hand, she is the War Devil, so one can consider it as "drafting" California's citizens for her war.
