Denji, who literally set himself on fire just to go and take a vacation with Makima, decided to stay behind for Power's sake. He gained nothing from doing that, and he even said so himself. He didn't know why he did it, but he did it anyway. Denji is learning what it means to care for someone on a truly intimate level, but cannot express it yet.
Makima, or any other woman for that purpose, can't steal Denji's heart anymore.
