where can I find chapter 98+in English I still want to catch up but it feels like I can't due to the new chapters being translated here but not any after 97/before 202
It's not an unpopular opinion at this rate, but I don't like the current Part 2.
I actually do initially like the early part 2 more emphasis on its wackier tone, but now we're unironically back to square one, but worse. Despite the series portrays Barem's desire going back to Part 1 tone as a bad thing.
Despite what redditors complained how slow it is, I'd say the pacing is more uneven; it's just that the slower release schedule made it feel that way. Sometimes it's too fast, other times several plot point happened too slowly.
A frequent problem with Part 2 is how underdeveloped most of the characters are. A lot of conclusions turned out to be unsatsifying because Fujimoto has made most of their enemies too powerful, there's only one instance where Denji won after Yuko. There's also several instances that feels like Fujimoto wrote into corner like the infamous alley incident. What's even the point of it? Was it to showcase Yoru can't change her ways? A later scene did convey that better, so it ended up just being a messy take on SA that won't be addressed.
I will say that,
Killing off Nayuta is the worst decision Fujimoto has ever made. The only thing that would be more surprising is if she's never brought back in some form despite how hard the series tries to convince otherwise (heavy copium).
This is something that most didn't brought up, but Denji's development feels illogical. You would think what happeened afterwards, it would be A) Somehow Pochita gets snatched from him and Denji becomes edgy or B) Denji tells Asa that Nayuta is a control devil and he plans to go to hell and find her reincarnation.
A is admittedly cliched, but it does line up a sequence of young Denji vilely stating he doesn't a normal life. B is meant to line up what Denji said to Aging Devil. But instead, none of these happened. This is the equilavent of Krillin not suggesting he could go to Namek and wish their deceased comrade back to life with its Dragon Balls and instead go fishing for some reason.
Going back to writing into corner issue, after what Barem has done, there's no way Denji won't want to rip him into shreds when he reappears, so it actually would be better to just Barem him off by turning him the first victim of Chainsaw Man's erasure powers, but since it's never shown to be the case, it can assumed he will make a return. Unless Fujimoto pulled a "Thank you for being a mass murderer" moment.
Actually, where the hell is Miri? He's the character that would most likely to make a reapparance after the Aging Devil arc with Denji holding a huge grudge for being indirectly responsible for Barem's actions, but instead, he didn't.
The fake Chainsaw Man plot twist would carry more weight if we're introduced to the character was introduced earlier, but pacing just doesn't allow it, so it bizzarely turned out to be more predictable plot twist if one paid attnetion to the Fire Devil foreshadowing.
