Yeah, I think this backstory kinda sucks. Way too convoluted. Didn't address the issue of "white witch = evil" and "black witch = persecuted", and instead we got a barely fleshed out shallow BL story between the Green Witch and the White Witch King with a Queen that is a cuckquean for no apparent reason other than just there to support the BL. And it didn't even give answer as to how Lis is even born out of that homosexuality. We just know that he is the son of the Green Witch and White Witch King.

Literally the BL is:
White Witch King: I fell in love with you at first sight because I am a homosexual and I like that you steal powers.
Green Witch: I'm going to play hard to get for a valid reason but fall in love with you because you're a dude and I'm gay.

The only valid part of their BL is the status difference and why they are not meant to be togethere. That's it.

On the technical side, holy crap! So many texts that just adds clutter to the panels and at the same time, the texts barely serve any purpose but to pad the story. This arc should have been a 1 or 2 manga chapters like the commentors have pointed out.

Why does this even need to BL to begin with? It doesn't even make sense because how did they even pass their power to Lis considering that they're homosexuals? Is the queen being impregnated by both of them?

That would be a plot hole cuz the king himself stated that despite their marriage and affection for her, he is, to put it bluntly, too gay to fuck her, to the point where it’s become heavy gossip in the castle and amongst nobles.

But how is Lis even supposed to be born from a homosexual relationship? The manga did not mention that. It just states that Lis inherited his powers from the Green Witch, but literally how? Is there a surrogacy in this manga? Did they master the creation of life without the need of a woman? How is Lis supposed to even inherit both White Witch King and Green Witch's power? Did the Green Witch get mpreged? This backstory lacks any form of substance nor even addresses issues that plagued the manga. I'm not worried about that it is BL, I'm more concerned of Lis' conception among the logic behind the white witch vs black witch thing that still don't make a lot of sense on the white witch side.

I share the sentiment that this backstory is the author / editorial wanting to make a BL romance but cannot afford to publish another lineup so they hamfisted this to this manga.

Wow that was way to convoluted. Idk how it's going to go from here. Politics + White vs Black + Forbidden Doomed love + Ruin to the world. My only theory is that the author might somehow strip all the while magicians of their power because the only good white magician I've seen up until now (besides Luna's Ex, who doesn't even have any power) is the white king who also very carelessly has caused another disaster.

Yeah, basically I've come here to read the shenanigans of a cute mushroom girl witch, and through the sheer power of worldbuilding I ended up reading YAOI instead

I'm not mad, but I've definitely been baited into it
