This chapter she is maybe a bit too aggressive, like I don't mind reading about her but would find her a bit irritating in his position.

i want to give you spoiler for LN 2. the reason i didn't share summary LN Volume 1 is because that volume only contains introduction to each heroine and little bit conflict. LN volumes 2 and 3 are better because there will be some spicy drama

New Characters unlocked =

Main Heroine 5: Akeboshi Meina (2nd year high school)

Doumoto Inori → Kasuga Haru’s friend
Sumie Kasumi → MC’s younger sister
Iketeru Hitomi
Satou

★ It starts with a meeting between the main heroines (Amane, Haru, Hakua) + Inori in the student council room to talk about their love rival, Nanao. All the main heroines are going after the same guy: Izumi. During the meeting, they also bring up the issue of Amane getting close to Nanao. In volume 1, Amane had some trouble with Izumi, but thanks to Nanao’s help, Amane is now able to be close to Izumi again and is brave enough to show a bit of her feelings for him by giving him a homemade lunch every day. Volume 2 will focus on Hakua.

★ As usual, Izumi’s classmate Satou invites Izumi to join a group date with girls from Seirin High School. Izumi always gets dragged along because of his handsome face, which is used as “bait” to make the Seirin girls want to join. While they’re talking, Nanao suddenly hugs Izumi from behind. Like always, Nanao comes to Izumi’s classroom and openly shows how huge her love for Izumi is. They’re not dating yet.

★ On that day, Izumi’s school gets a new transfer student again, even though it hasn’t even been a month since Nanao transferred there. This time, the student is someone who has just come back to Japan after living overseas. Her name is Akeboshi Meina. She used to live in America and studied at a university there, and now she’s back in Japan. Meina joins Izumi’s class, and after introducing herself, she walks straight up to Izumi. Izumi wasn’t really paying attention to the self-introduction, but then he suddenly hears the class getting noisy. When he looks up, Meina is already standing right in front of him. Meina tells Izumi that it’s been a long time and that she’s liked him since way back then. Izumi is confused because he has no memory of who Meina is. Meina explains that she’s the fox Izumi once saved.

★ When Meina forces Izumi to walk around the school with her, Izumi asks more details about their “past relationship”. Meina explains that she’s the fox Izumi helped when he was a kid. But of course that’s a lie, because Izumi doesn’t remember ever saving a fox, and as a kid he was actually really scared of animals. Meina’s true identity becomes more and more of a mystery, so Izumi asks his little sister (Kasumi) to help him find out who Meina really is.

★ The three main heroines (Amane, Haru, Hakua) hold another meeting to talk about this transfer student who seems close to Izumi. But while they’re talking, Meina suddenly walks into the student council room. It turns out Meina is actually Hakua’s subordinate, the daughter of the Shiragiku family’s secretary. Meina was ordered by Hakua to win Izumi’s heart and then “hand it over” to Hakua. But Meina refuses Hakua’s order. She says she’s liked Izumi from the start and seriously wants to get his heart for herself. When Meina leaves the student council room, she runs into Nanao. Nanao asks Meina to work together with her to win Izumi’s heart.

★ After finishing his part-time job, Izumi is approached by Meina and Nanao. Nanao is the first to say she wants to go hang out at Izumi’s place. Of course, Izumi tries to refuse because it doesn’t look good to bring a girl into the room of a guy who lives alone. But Meina joins in, and because of Meina’s pushing, Izumi is forced to let both of them come over to his apartment.

★ Meanwhile, Hakua is preparing food for Izumi. Hakua managed to find out where Izumi lives, and using her family’s money power, she got the room right next to Izumi’s. Every day, she cooks meals for Izumi. This makes Hakua confident that she’s “leading” among the heroines, since she spends more time with Izumi than the others. When she hears Izumi’s door open, Hakua goes out, planning to visit his room and welcome him home. But then she hears another woman’s voice coming from his room. Because the apartment walls aren’t that thick, Hakua puts her ear to the wall to listen in on what’s going on next door. She hears Meina and Nanao’s voices and totally misunderstands, thinking the three of them are doing something indecent.

★ Hakua rushes to Izumi’s room to stop them, but what she sees is Izumi eating super greasy pizza with Nanao and Meina. There’s a funny double misunderstanding here: Izumi thinks Hakua is mad because he’s eating unhealthy junk food. Hakua is actually mad because Izumi brought girls into his room. It’s really funny: Izumi apologizes because he ate junk food, while Hakua thinks he’s apologizing for bringing women over lol.

★ Hakua runs out of Izumi’s room crying because of the misunderstanding. Meina goes to Hakua’s room to calm her down and explain what really happened. Meina and Hakua’s relationship as servant and master is a secret and must never be found out by Izumi. While in Hakua’s room, we find out Meina had planned from the start to live together with Hakua and already sent her things to Hakua’s room. Meina gives Hakua advice on how to be seen more as “a woman” by Izumi. Her suggestion: Hakua should cosplay and wear a maid outfit.

★ Meina goes back to Izumi’s room, surprising him because now she’s wearing a maid outfit. When Izumi asks where Hakua is, Hakua walks in too—also wearing a maid outfit, but a different style from Meina’s. Hakua’s outfit is more like a sexy and cute cosplay-style maid, while Meina wears a more classic maid uniform. Nanao, seeing both of them dressed as maids, also wants to cosplay as a maid. The four of them end up having a mini cosplay party in Izumi’s room.

★ After the three girls leave Izumi’s room, he gets a call from his little sister about Meina’s true identity.

★ Late at night, when Meina and Nanao are already fast asleep in Hakua’s room, Hakua steps out to get some fresh air on her balcony. By chance, she runs into Izumi, who is also on his balcony. Izumi tells Hakua that he already knows Meina is someone sent by the Shiragiku family. Izumi is disappointed in Hakua for sending someone from the Shiragiku family to get close to him. His tone changes, and it sounds like he’s trying to distance himself from her. The reason Izumi is disappointed in Hakua is because he’s no longer involved with his parents’ company (Sumie Group) and doesn’t want anything to do with business matters anymore. He used to be Hakua’s fiancé; they were engaged to strengthen the bond between the two big companies, Shiragiku and Sumie. So when Hakua sends Meina to get close to Izumi, he sees it as Hakua trying to drag him into the Shiragiku Group again.

★ Hakua cries because she can’t explain that it’s all a misunderstanding. She did everything because she loves Izumi so much. She got the room next to his because she loves him. She cooks for him every day because she loves him. She made Meina approach Izumi because she loves him. But since Hakua doesn’t have the courage to confess her feelings, she can only stay silent and cry alone.

★ The next day, Hakua gives Izumi a lunchbox like usual. That day, Izumi still accepts it, but he tells her that from now on, she doesn’t need to cook for him anymore.

★ The climax happens during the school’s cultural festival. Hakua is chosen as a participant in a “fetch quest” style competition, and she’s up against Nanao. It turns out the contest has already been secretly rigged by Meina. All the slips of paper that were supposed to have random items written on them have been swapped with one phrase: “The person of the opposite sex you like.” Nanao immediately runs to Izumi to bring him to the finish line, but Hakua just freezes. Hakua is the successor of her family’s company, and there’s a chance people from the company are watching the event. If she brings the boy she likes to the finish line, it might affect her future as the company’s heir. But all her doubts disappear when she sees Nanao turning around and smiling at her. Hakua starts running toward Izumi, grabs his arm, and pulls him along. Izumi feels pain from both sides as Nanao and Hakua tug on him, and he begs them to let go. But Hakua refuses and says she won’t let go of his hand. When they finally reach the finish line, Izumi, worried about Hakua’s exhausted condition, gets surprised when Hakua suddenly shouts that she loves Izumi very much. Her love confession echoes across the entire field because the host’s mic happens to be nearby.

★ After that event, Hakua becomes more and more open in showing her feelings for Izumi. She gets clingier like Nanao—hugging him at every chance, and so on.

★ While Meina and Nanao are eating together (they’re giving Hakua some alone time with Izumi), they’re approached by Izumi’s younger sister, Kasumi. Kasumi warns Meina not to interfere in their family’s matters. Kasumi also says she can have Izumi transferred out of his current school if she wants.

Kasumi became the official heir to the family company after she managed to snatch the inheritance rights from Izumi.
There’s still no illustration of Kasumi yet.

I love them all as characters, the three "mains" are just so cheesy in their own way and nanao is just a demon of mischief

I don't know why any of you dislike Nanase (the transfer student) here.

In a real relationship, especially the ones that leads to marriage and a lifelong partnership, it's much easier and wholesome to have a partner who is putting their heart on their sleeve. It's much easier to know what our partner think and feel when they (and us) are willing to say what they think and feel.

Woman like Nanase is a keeper, man. Many of you just do not understand and/or realize it yet.
Yes, and that's why I like her the most of all the heroines. She's maybe a bit pushy and touchy sometimes, but in general, I like her straightforward nature. It's a refreshing change from the usual stupid romcom tropes...

Yeah, a spoiler WTF happened with MC and his family/heir position, and if his sister is just a brocon or maybe pure evil, or something, would be nice to have ;).

Also after reading this chapter and rereading previous ones. It would be funny if the blondie "healing angel" somehow became the love candidate and actually won.

In real relationships you shouldn't sexually harass someone who isn't even your partner. In real life what she does would be creepy and uncomfortable, to put in the perspective imagine the roles were swapped and it was a dude who was harassing a girl the way she does. Touching between thighs? Yeah, if I saw this done to my friend, someone would have their fingers broken.

As for wearing a heart on your sleeve... I mean I don't disagree if you are already in relationship, but right now those 3 girls are afraid of harming their current relationship, so you can't really blame them.
I don't know if you are a man or a woman, but yes, I agree that it will be problematic if a man is this forward to a woman whom he just recently acquainted with.

However, I think what Nanase is doing here, that is teasing a man in such a way is so, so far from sexual harassment. If you are a man, and you think it's a sexual harassment from the woman's side, then I'm sorry, you don't know how to deal with that kind of playful (and quite frankly harmless) teasing from a woman.

If I were Izumi, I would banter her back with:
"Nanase-san, Nanase-san... It seems like you are touching my thigh in a funny way."

If Nanase replies his banter, then just continue with more casual and playful banters. Why I think this will work? Because I take girls like Nanase as someone who is forward, yet still respect boundaries. She is going too forward right now is because Izumi isn't paying her any attention.

Give enough casual and wholesome attention to girls like Nanase, then she will definitely tone her forwardness down. You know? Just like how you would deal with any other people whom you have a close friendship with because we already know that Nanase is absolutely open to become at least a close friend to Izumi.

As a slightly older guy, this series, and Nanao's dynamic in particular, is a breath of fresh air. I have definitely been team Nanao from the beginning, but that can change depending on whether the other girls get good character development as the story progresses.

Admittedly, Nanao is a bit too forward in recent chapters, and this could be a bit off-putting for the target audience (young Japanese people, especially boys), but if this were in a western dating setting, girls escalating faster like this is more common, and Izumi, being less comfortable with this speed, needs to gently signal for her to slow down (which is obviously not going to happen given his inexperience). If Nanao picks up on this on her own and slows down, that would be even better, but I suspect the mangaka is going to continue with her aggressive advances for comedy and to force the situation to progress.
As another slightly older guy (41) from Europe, it feels kinda wild that stroking the thighs of a guy you've known for a total of 2 days or so, and who you're not currently dating would be considered "more common". If someone did this to me, I would not exactly be grossed out (especially if I find the girl in question attractive), but would likely put her into the "doesn't mess around" and "may be looking to speedrun me" categories.

Thing is, neither category really applies to high schoolers in my experience, not because they are oh-so-innocent, but because they typically have no idea what they're doing (yet). That was what gave me pause with Nanao here, because if her feelings are genuine and she was merely trying to flirt with the MC in a way that came naturally to her, what we've seen in this chapter feels less than believable. Then again, it's a manga, so who knows if it even wants to be that.

If you find yourself thinking: "this is bad when it happens to a woman, but if it was a man it is ok, good even" -- then you are wrong. sexual harassment is sexual harassment; full stop.

He clearly said to her to NOT come that close, NOT blow into his ear in earlier chapters, but she does this again and again, completely ignoring his boundaries, and now she pushes them further with a very uncomfortable physical contact.

I AM a guy, and because I am a guy I know how fucked up it can get. When you are getting harassed and everyone around you is like: lucky guy, she is just very forward, that's just light flirting. You feel so disgusted and so uncomfortable, but the world tells you that it is not. This messes with you head man.

Anyway, I will not respond anymore so since I won't see you, good afternoon, good evening, good night and, of course, Happy New Year!

Good points. I agree that grabbing the thigh is a bit extreme, and on a personal level, I would also be a bit suspicious (though maybe that's just because I am not very good looking :ROFLMAO:). That said, i have heard from former classmates who have moved to places like LA or NY where this is not out of the question! So it is perhaps dependent on the local culture, each other's perceived sexual marketplace value, individual preferences regarding the level of physical intimacy, etc.

Coincidentally, Youtube recommended a video of a more toned-down interaction that highlights a similar dynamic, and the content creator explains the dynamics at play quite well:

Even though in this video, this is the couple's first date, the girl does things like touch him on the ears and such. It's not considered sexual harassment or inappropriate, and this is even before she knew what his comfort level/boundaries are. Of course, in the video, it helps that both people are attracted to each other, but the guy IS uncomfortable with the forwardness and more subtly communicated this, though if he really wanted to, he could have been much more direct.

Is this "right" or "fair"? In a perfectly egalitarian society, no. But we have to live in the real world, so if you don't like it, you either have to move to a place or limit yourself to communities that align with your values, or condemn yourself to "not play the game" and remain single (which, sadly, is increasingly happening around the world ).

Don't blame me if you don't know how to be assertive (firm) when you truly try to set boundaries. If you don't know the difference between having a flustered reaction and properly setting boundary, then just say so.

"D-Don't whisper in my ear every time!" --> Flustered, flimsy reaction. Of course girls would continue to tease you.

If you are truly not okay with that kind of teasing, be effin' firm about it.

"Hey, I don't like you blowing into my ears all the time like that. You better stop it or I'll get angry." --> Now this is setting a proper boundary.

I understand that we are living in a time when masculinity and being firm and direct is often mistaken with toxicity and abusive behavior. But if you don't understand the difference between being a gentleman who has a strong core of what he values and an abusive man (or woman) who roots himself in his insecurity when interacting with other people, then it's your own problem, man.

I know it's supposed to be mostly comedy, but it's still ugly when the supposed heroines start scheming to get MC's attention instead of being straightforward and showing him their best side. Like extremely ugly. Many good novels and mangas are ruined because they started playing the bitch card behind the scene, dragging others down instead of pulling themselves up
