I feel like there isn't much of a story going on... the mc just kinda wanders around from snarky encounter to snarky encounter with strangers and people from her past.

Nah, it feels a lot like that...
But, to me, it also feels like the premise of a story... a reaaaaaally long introduction to present a few characters.
It's just that most manga/manhwa do that in 1 to 3 chapters, and this one never seems to end.

I can were the first one they showed when Charlotte 'died' and he was almost wrecked. What if he did something to find her and in exchange, he will lose who he was?

Also, take note that Jeffrey is the 'i will obey what you want, my love' kind of husband here. My gosh Charlotte, please look at him in a different light!

Plus, my gosh why does Char's men disciples always looks so cool? So I'm guessing we're about to see the two ladies in the future
