They do know each other only from work for about 2 months, sure he joined forces with her to protect that gullible lolibaba, but acting as a nice guy that's always "helpful" is pretty common tactic to manipulate feebleminded.

I know from personal experience guys that do that shit all the time, obviously treat them like piece of shit as I wouldn't do that myself, but can't prevent it unfortunately either without stalking them 24/7, just hear them sometimes gossip in work with utter disgust.

Not only men do that, but also females too, either for status, money or sex.

Would recommend manga with examples of that tactic, with one ending good and other very fucking badly but that would be a spoiler...
