@beperov Not really. Maybe you just don't understand how Asian parents usually act. All the parents in this manga are just perfectly normal parents. I would say that they are good parents since it is obvious they really care about their children.
From what I have seen, when parents praised their children too much, they often turn out bad and arrogant like they are the center of the universes. As he said, that is his mother's way of caring. He was a sickly child so she worried he would get hurt so she stops him from doing things. A bad parents would be someone who never care about the child, basically let him do whatever he wants and doesn't pay attention to his well-being, but here, she cares about him a lot.

@miyako19 I would say she cares a bit too much, since she didn't let him do anything and that made him introverted and couldn't enjoy his youth like he wanted to. It even created an aversion towards his mother

I know that parenting is hard and no parents is really perfect but if you give your kids big insecurities and/or trauma without trying to at least understand or attempt to fix it later then you qualified as a bad parents

She cares for her son and has her heart in hte right place. But, she is just bad at parenting. Even the dad is in a similar position as he makes no moves to stop her at any point in time. Both parents are good people, love their son, but are bad at parenting. And that is what makes them human.
