I'm not sure if I get this right, but seeing the hanzi used, maybe it's a bit of a pun? That hanzi is the same kanji used in 好き (suki) "love". So it's probably something like a spillover "I wub yu!" kind of thing.

yeah, more or less,
好（ハオ）is a slang or buzzword that is popular recently
instead of saying "suki", they use "hao" from the Chinese word
