@Destiny Fate you have a fair point. I think the author is aware of it too. By the story's own admission, during the visit from the older sister goddess of beauty, the god Chitra serves is young and has an immature outlook on beauty. The reason people are converted into this cookie cutter ideal of beauty is because of the god's own shallowness.
I personally am having fun with it as a story conceit but I can see how it could make some people uncomfortable. Then again I prefer this to stories where everyone in the world is beautiful except the repugnant villains and there is no world-building reason behind it.
