Nearly every story that I can think of off the tip of my tongue has this exact same problem when it comes to prophecies being foretold. The prophecy seems to always come true because the telling of the prophecy changes the actions of people that inevitably results in the prophecy occurring. The ones I'm thinking of right now are stories where the villain of the story fears that the prophecy might come true so they end up doing something foolish that inevitably backfires on them.
