I love three things:
1. Popular kids aren’t dicks, their pretty nice people
2. The king isn’t a dick
3. MC doesn’t get kicked out or rejected, he’s just gonna go through the depths of hell (training)

All in all good start but then baam! Kidnapping and force to do kingdom's bidding by a seemingly selfish person? My finger is itching to press the dropped button. You better convince me otherwise in the coming chapter.

@DatOneGuy @Ronye It's not like they can't still be scumbags if they do it this way, though. Absolutely be suspicious of them regardless of how they behave outwardly, because they could just be playing nice until they can slap a slave collar type of magic item on you or some shit.

Caution is probably necessary when you're summoning people because they might have powers beyond what your citizens usually do, after all, so they should also be pretty suspicious of you. You're a stranger to them as much as they are to you, and you have weird powers. Kind of a sketchy situation on all sides.

Pretty good start. MC isn't discriminated by the king or the popular students.
However, regarding the hellish training.. I can only imagine them purposefully wounding themselves to train their healing magic.

Is hellish training supposed to win the MC's loyalty? The king has the right idea about how to treat summoned people, supposedly strong and vital for the country. Rose doesn't seem to have a clue, though. Her method might be the correct one for volunteers and even drafted citizens who feel like they are working for their country, but treating Usato like that shouldn't work. Of course it might work if the dude is a typical isekai manga doormat MC, but it still should make him hate the country.

@Kaarme Yeah that's true and I really liked seeing the King and his advisers taking a more mature, earnest approach. That being said, it's not like the "Heroes" can return home ... they don't really have a choice but to listen. Also, I'm guessing Rose thinks that her attitude and harsh training will eventually win over the "Healer Hero", like with real life drill-sergeants / unit leaders in organized militaries. In these scenarios, leaders subject recruits to horrific circumstances, but many of them gain the respect and trust of their underlings by living the same lifestyle, undergoing the same hardships, and even by taking the most risky positions in active combat.

@Goyal99Raj The king did say the kingdom will be looking for a way for the heroes to return home once the demon king threat is over. Whether that was a lie or not, is unknown.

The problem with Rose's approach, which you described, is that Usato (like the other two) have got absolutely nothing to do with this particular country, in fact not with the whole world. Not a perfect comparison, but it's a bit like a European or an American tourists visiting China, to see the museums and other sightseeing spots, would suddenly be snatched by the Chinese military and put through hellish training in order to defend Chine against its enemies.

When a person joins the military or is drafted, they at least know they are working for their own country, their own family, and ultimately themselves. Unless it's a total dictatorship in which they live. Japan, obviously, is not.

I thought those three were about to be smashed by Truck-kun, glad I was wrong.

So, did Rose found a glitch in the system and make use of it? No, please don't, I'm fed up with that kind of cheat.
Is it more like that type of game where you can individually level up your spells or skills based on how often or how many times you use it? And in this case, healing magics. Well, that could be interesting for me. Time to find out.

I reread this series after the latest chapter and it's even funnier because...Usato's image on his senpai already crumbled since chapter 1. 😂

This should be called "the manga where people belittle doctors." That premise makes zero sense. At the very least make it so that it's not a general sentiment but rather that of the arrogant knights or something. Healers are revered to near-heroic status in all cultures. How come they're shat upon in this world? They save peoples' lives for god's sake.
Probably because it's taking inspiration from gaming culture witch tends to be harsh on healers, because people really hate playing them and they get blamed for players stupidity on the maps. I.e tank diving to deep, damaged dealers also getting killed for being out of position, etc.

It’s interesting rereading this after seeing the first episode of the anime. Quite a few things are different and I liked the flow of the anime better. Did the anime change it from the LN or is the manga the one that deviates?

Came back for a reread due to the anime. I will DEFINITELY be writing about this in my journal.
