@Jayswing103 Is she? She's only thinking about herself and her own, old failure. That's her motivation. Usato isn't a person of his own for her, just a better, more perfect replacement for the comrades Rose lost and for what she blames herself. It also explains how she can train Usato like she does. Because Usato doesn't matter, only her own ideal matters. As long as Usato matches what she's trying to achieve, she's happy.

I'd say her reaction is quite realistic for someone with trauma. They often end up finding all the worst ways to cope in the most selfish way possible, can't really hate her for that when you have empathy but can't really like her when you are logical about the whole thing
